Minutes - Elkmont Chapel of Valley View Baptist Church, Wears Valley TN, Sunday, September 22nd, 2018. Bruce Wheeler, the moderator, noted that this year marks the 97th consecutive singing (though not always at this location). Originally erected in what became Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Elkmont Chapel was dismantled, loaded onto a truck, moved to its present site, and re-erected, in 1938. In 2017 the date of the singing was changed to the fourth Saturday in September, the day before the Headrick Chapel singing. We had 10 trebles, 7 altos, about 12 leads, and 5 basses. From farthest away was William Cleary, from Cambridge, England. It was a very strong singing.
Introduction and opening prayer by Preston Joslin, who has been the pastor
of Valley View Baptist Church for many years.

Sunday, 23 September
Minutes, annual New Harp of Columbia Headrick Chapel Singing, Sunday, September 23rd, 2018. Moderators were David Sarten in the morning, and Bruce Wheeler in the afternoon. We had 29 singers in the morning. We sang 54 songs, somewhat fewer than we've sung in the past. We sang a number of tunes we hadn't sung before, most notably perhaps 72A Messiah. The singing was very loud. From farthest away was William Cleary, from Cambridge, England, who celebrated his 25th birthday with us.
