Little Greenbrier Schoolhouse Singing
Little Greenbrier Schoolhouse
Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Tennessee
Sunday, July 14, 2013
All selections from New Harp of Columbia, Restored Edition, 2001.
Singing at the Little Greenbrier School near Metcalf Bottoms in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The first singing here in a very long time.
Built in 1882, it was last in use by a school in 1936, but is extremely well preserved and is a wonderful singing space - if Headrick Chapel is the Stradivarius of the Old Harp tradition, then Little Greenbrier School is the Guarneri del Ges?.
Robin Goddard, David Sarten, Georgianna Vines, and Andrew Whaley gave the park visitors information about the schoolhouse and about Old Harp singing.
