After the chairman called the singing to order, Micky Alexander, mayor of Marion, offered an official welcome to the singers on behalf of the city and its Community Arts Foundation.

Books used this year were The Sacred Harp, 1991 edition; The Southern Harmony, 1854 facsimile, 1987 UofK reprint; and Missouri Harmony, 1994.

Tim Reynolds conducted a memorial lesson in honor of Southern Harmony singers Willard Walker, Ray Mofield, and Glenn C. Wilcox; he led 288t, Hebron, in their honor.
