Odis Abbott: b. 1919, d. 2014

A remembrance (2015) by Jeremy Shipp:
"Odis Clinton Abbott, Sr. (1919–2014) was born in Cades Cove and lived there until the federal government made it a national park in the 1930s. He taught me to sing as I sang next to him. He said, "When you feel it, then you just push it." He sang at my wedding. At my wedding reception, instead of dancing we had more singing. Odis held my babies while singing. Last July we sang old harp at his funeral. The day before Odis Abbott died, he was at an old harp singing."
