  • Ken George writes: We have scheduled this singing on Sunday, April 6th 2 - 4:30 pm during Pendleton's Spring Jubilee. Singers may want to come a little early to see the crafts and entertainment going on about 1/4 mile away in the Pendleton town square. I met with the lady (Mrs. Jo McConnell), who plans this event each year. She was very enthusiastic about our singing, and she is going to help promote it in the Anderson paper and at the Hunter Store. This singing will not be a performance, but I hope that it can serve as a demonstration singing and promote interest in our shape note singings at Clemson, so please try to come. St. Paul has a large parking area next to the church and their thrift store. There is also ample parking on the street in front of the church and churchyard. St.Paul's has a bathroom and a place to set up snacks and drinks inside the church building. We will take our break midway through the singing for snacks, etc. There will be a church service at 5 pm following the singing.

  • Don writes: The park will be sending out notice to their mailing list, as well as to the media. They do ask that we who plan to attend let them know. So, if you can come, let me know via e-mail and I will pass it along. I checked the space we will use today. It's not the best, but will serve us very well. Most importantly, they are very enthusiastic about having us. If you do not know, this is an historic site; it was the site of the mustering of the Overmountain Men who marched to King's Mountain in the War for American Independence. I would not be surprised to find out that the shapes have been sung there. I am hoping for a good attendance and for all you old hands from afar off (you know who you are) to plan to attend.
