About this site: christianharmony.org

This web site has evolved to serve several purposes, including at least any-or-all of the following.

  1. To support the shapenote singing community centered on Asheville, North Carolina, with a "range" of about 100 miles.

We consider singers in western North Carolina, upstate South Carolina, eastern Tennessee—and even some in Georgia!—to be us.

  2. To support just-about-anything related to William Walker's tune book The Christian Harmony, in all its forms, anywhere in the world.

  3. Specifically, to support the "Carolina book" tradition of The Christian Harmony, because our community is the heartland of that tradition.

  4. To support other seven-shape dispersed-harmony singing traditions.

  5. Specifically, to support Old Harp singing, at least by collecting and preserving Minutes of their singings. (They are part of our community, after all.)

We are delighted by (and use) others' contributions in this realm, e.g. The Christian Harmony Index, the seven-shape Bremen robots(!), or Jeremiah Ledbetter's singings finder.

We welcome your suggestions for how this site might be improved.
