Kathleen Mavournin then talked about the recent death of her younger daughter Kirsten Larsen, in Colorado, after a painful though brief course of cancer of the body of the pancreas. Kirsten was a singer when she was a teen-ager, and the Old Harp helped her through a difficult time in her life. Kirsten's lifelong friend Elizabeth Daniels, who was with Kirsten at the time of her death, also spoke.

It was a good singing, but we had only 22 singers in the morning, 23 in the afternoon. The number of singers has declined steadily over the last four years, half it what it was a few years ago.
