Second Annual Wears Valley Convention

Wears Valley, Tennessee
Saturday, 22 September and Sunday, 23 September, 2018

All selections from The New Harp of Columbia unless otherwise noted.

Saturday, 22 September

Minutes - Elkmont Chapel of Valley View Baptist Church, Wears Valley TN, Sunday, September 22nd, 2018. Bruce Wheeler, the moderator, noted that this year marks the 97th consecutive singing (though not always at this location). Originally erected in what became Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Elkmont Chapel was dismantled, loaded onto a truck, moved to its present site, and re-erected, in 1938. In 2017 the date of the singing was changed to the fourth Saturday in September, the day before the Headrick Chapel singing. We had 10 trebles, 7 altos, about 12 leads, and 5 basses. From farthest away was William Cleary, from Cambridge, England. It was a very strong singing.

Introduction and opening prayer by Preston Joslin, who has been the pastor of Valley View Baptist Church for many years.
