Bruce Wheeler, the moderator, noted that this year marks the 95th continuous singing (though not always at this location). Originally erected in what became Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Elkmont Chapel was dismantled, loaded onto a truck, moved to its present site, and re-erected, in 1938.

This singing was stronger that it has been in recent years, with 19 singers, with 7 leads, and 4 singers in each of the other parts. Andrew Whaley has proposed moving this singing to the Saturday before the Headrick Chapel singing, and possibly making it an all day affair with dinner on the grounds.
